New video evidence disputes Israeli army’s account of medic killings
Footage shows rescue workers, with ambulance lights on, killed in barrage of Israeli gunfire
New video evidence relating to the killing of 15 Palestinian rescue workers by Israeli forces has emerged, contradicting the Israeli account of the attack on a medical convoy in Rafah last week.
The footage, which was retrieved from a phone belonging to one of the medics who was killed, shows the Israeli army attacking clearly marked Red Crescent ambulances that had their emergency signal lights on, and emergency medical workers wearing reflective vests.
Officials from the Palestine Red Crescent Society said in a news conference on Friday at the United Nations headquarters that they had presented the nearly seven-minute recording to the UN Security Council.

President Trump has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to China to remove its retaliatory tariffs on the U.S., warning that failure to comply will result in an additional 50% tariff on Chinese goods.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The United States will begin collecting a 104% tariff on Chinese goods starting Wednesday after Beijing missed President Donald Trump’s deadline to roll back retaliation measures, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed on Tuesday to Fox News.
On Friday, the Chinese State Council announced that China would impose additional tariffs of 34% on all goods imported from the United States. In response, Trump stated on Monday that he would increase tariffs on Chinese imports by 50%, effective April 9, unless Beijing rescinds its retaliatory tariffs by Tuesday.
China has declared it won’t back down to threats or coercion after President Trump announced plans to impose an extra 50% tariff on Chinese goods.

On April 2, Trump signed an executive order imposing reciprocal tariffs on US trade partners, which includes a 34% tariff on China, a 20% tariff on the European Union, and 24% on Japanese imports. Trump also signed an executive order imposing 25% tariffs on foreign-made cars, light trucks, and auto parts, saying that such a measure was necessary to protect “national security.”
Global markets are in turmoil in the wake of President Trump’s announcement of steep new tariffs against most of the world. Combined with massive debt and rising geopolitical tensions, the tariff wars have left more than a few observers drawing worrying historical parallels.
“We are at the top of a huge, great debt and credit bubble. And that’s very, very similar to the situation in the late 1920s,” independent economist Alasdair Macleod told Sputnik.
“In 1930, the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act was signed into law by President Hoover. It was the combination of the credit bubble bursting, plus the effect of the tariffs, which imposed a minimum tariff of 20% on all US imports that led to the collapse of the stock market and the Depression,” Macleod warned.
In some ways, the situation now is “even worse,” according to the observer, “because the bubble is far bigger than we saw in 1929. And not only that, but Trump’s tariffs are far worse than Smoot-Hawley because it’s on top of earlier tariffs.”

April 7 (Reuters) – BlackRock (BLK.N), opens new tab CEO Larry Fink said stock markets could fall 20% farther as steep U.S. tariffs lead some investors to believe the U.S. economy may already be contracting.
“Most CEOs I talk to would say we are probably in a recession right now,” Fink told the Economic Club of New York on Monday. The tariffs will lead to higher prices, adding to inflationary pressure.
