President Joe Biden’s son Hunter will be sentenced after the election, having been found guilty on three gun-related felony charges back in June.
In a court order handed down on Friday, Judge Maryellen Noreika set a sentencing date of Wednesday 13 November, at the J. Caleb Boggs Federal Building in Wilmington, Delaware—eight days after the presidential election.
A jury convicted Hunter Biden of three charges related to the purchase of a gun, in 2018. He was found guilty of making a false statement in the purchase of a gun, making a false statement related to information required to be kept by a federally licensed gun dealer, and possession of a gun by a person who is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.
Prosecutors were able to show that the President’s son was smoking crack when he purchased the gun.
Hunter Biden faces a maximum of 25 years in prison for the three charges, with each charge also carrying a maximum $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release. Because Hunter Biden is a first-time offender, it is unlikely he will be subject to the maximum penalties.
