It is a very “pessimistic forecast” from Treasurer Jim Chalmers that he has revealed will come in the Labor government's first budget to be delivered tomorrow night, Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says. “A drop in growth to 1.5 per cent from 3.25 per cent. That is what’s coming next year. I know interest rates are going up but are commodity prices going anywhere? And immigration has restarted too. So, what is going on here?” Mr Clennell said. “A prediction that economic growth will more than halve. “Government sources tell me that this is to do with global factors and interest rates.”
