Nationals MP Barnaby Joyce has slammed Netball Australia’s players who have “made heroes of themselves on television” amid Gina Rinehart’s decision to withdraw $15 million sponsorship. Mr Joyce defended mining magnate Gina Rinehart’s decision to remove financial support for Netball Australia, after players refused to display Hancock Prospecting’s logo on their uniform for remarks made by her late father, Lang Hancock. “They actually lost the money for their teammates - those discussions should have been had in private,” Mr Joyce told Sky News Australia. “If you want to go public, get on your soapbox, make a hero of yourself - well, don’t be surprised when the $15 million that very other few people have got, is taken away from you.”
