I was exposed to a lot of media during the bush years (2001-2009), and I remember seeing a lot of jokes made at his expense, a lot of the media calling him dumb, a lot of hate for his character and policies, ect. Side note, Bush attended Yale and Harvard SB, I could tell back then this was the beginning of fake news. Being Canadian, a lot of the news I absorbed could be considered international news and it seemed like every chance the media got, they smeared Bush. They also linked his family to Osama Binladen (somehow, I forget, possibly oil sales.)
I am seeing ALOT of parallels to how the media is treating trump. Without making an exhausting list we can agree the media is painting a picture of the republican POTUS as being something undesirable, as being unreasonable, and even quoting him out of context making him seem crazy.
The media made Obama look like a saint, socialist that, socialist this, and overall only positive media.
I ask this question because I am mid twenties and Bush, Obama, and Trump are the only POTUS I have learned about. Do the democrats have some serious media connections that just condemns republicans? Is it just international news that slays republicans? Do the democrats own certain media outlets / bribe certain ones?
TL;DR Canadian here, saw bush get roasted on the daily in the 00's, now seeing Trump having same problem. Has this always happened to republican POTUS? Why, how, who?
