Democratic bigs including Caroline Kennedy, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Rep. John Lewis were at the Cutting Room to help Rep. Joseph Crowley celebrate his 55th birthday.
Kennedy, the former ambassador to Japan, got onstage, joking, “I thought I’d have to sing Irish songs,” before skipping out early to grab dinner.
Lewis, who has publicly feuded with President Donald Trump, also took the stage.
“He gave an emotional speech about his civil rights work, and told the audience we are going backward as a country,” said a spy. “He was saying that we came on different boats, and are now in the same boat and need to look out for one another.” We hear he ended by exclaiming, “Never give up!”
