Mom rips truck driver who killed her one-year-old daughter

The grieving woman whose 1-year-old daughter was run over and killed at a Queens intersection says the driver’s carelessness robbed her of her only child.

Mom Fredrique Rowe, 24, was pushing tot Skylar Perkins across 23rd Avenue at 10:45 p.m. on Thursday when Wallace Ramirez, 44, plowed his Dodge Ram truck into the stroller while making a right turn onto 94th Street, according to police.

Ramirez remained at the scene, but only after Rowe banged on the side of the truck to get him to stop, said the grieving mom, who charged that Ramirez was clearly not paying attention.

“I just want to know what he was doing that he cannot pick up his head for a split second and see us walking in the crosswalk across the street,” she told The Post.

“I just don’t understand how he even hit her and then you try to keep going. I had to bang on the windows for [him] to stop.”

Ramirez was distraught when he realized what happened, a witness said.

“The driver got out and collapsed,” said Leo Guerrero. “He sat on the ground crying.”

Ramirez was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care following a police investigation into the fatal crash.

But the charges provide little comfort, Rowe said.

“I’m glad he’s arrested, but that’s not going to bring my daughter back,” she said. “Him being locked up isn’t going to bring my daughter back. I don’t have any other children and now I have to find a way to cope.”
