A mass shooting in central Lille has left 'many wounded' and sparked fears of a terror attack.
It is unclear who carried out the attack and whether or not it is still ongoing.
Armed police have sealed off roads into the city centre as they try to contain the situation.
French reports say there were several shots fired near the Porte d'Arras metro station at around 9.50pm.
At least three people were injured, including a 14-year-old.
It comes as France remains in a high state of alert following a string of Islamist terror attacks during the past 12 months.
