Cooler Stuffed With 60 Ounces Of Marijuana Donated To Goodwill
LISTEN TO TLR’S LATEST PODCAST: By Steve Ambrose Workers at a Goodwill recently received a lot more than a donation, finding five bags of marijuana stuffed into a cooler worth roughly $24,000. The haul of marijuana was found Monday inside a donated cooler at a Goodwill in Monroe, Wash., prompting workers to call the police. Authorities attempted to track down who made the donation but it is unclear if the cooler was given directly to the Goodwill store in Monroe or picked up from a Goodwill trailer in a nearby town, reports KTLA . Police were called… http://pic.twitter.com/50z1OinsER — Monroe PD (@MonroePolice) March 14, 2017 “Normally when we go there, it is for a shoplifter, but not anything like this,” Debbie Willis of the Monroe Police Department told KTLA . “However there are many people on social media claiming it’s theirs, but we have yet to have one walk through the door.” Marijuana is legal in the state of Washington, however the law limits possession to one ounce or less. The five bags of marijuana seized from the cooler totaled 3.75 pounds . A representative for Goodwill said this should serve as a reminder to people to triple check all the items they are donating to make sure nothing is unintentionally left behind, also adding the bags of weed are not the strangest thing they’ve found before. “In 2013, three human skulls were found,” Katherine Boury , a spokesperson for Goodwill, told KTLA . This included a more than 100-year-old Native American skull. “We worked with authorities to track down the origin of the Native American skull for proper burial.” Police are looking though surveillance footage in an attempt to track down the previous owner of the cooler.
